Day One. Because of no sleep this was a non-day of pseudo jet lag. Instead of heading south through the other oases the route to Siwa is along the north coast to Al Malhroub. After a stop on a beach of white sand and turquoise sea drinking camel’s milk we headed for a traditional Egyptian lunch in a traditional five star hotel. At which point we realised that we hadn’t had breakfast. So a comatose afternoon heading south after passing El Alamein – reminder of recent history in this ancient country.
Reach Mahroub and lovely, completely empty hotel. Tried for a swim in the Med but still too early in the year – even the pool was freezing. Spot of training, delicious dinner and bed. Nothing interesting so far.
